Discovered in 1906, Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide (NAD) is a coenzyme found in each of our living cells. It has two forms: NAD+ and NADH. Simply put, NADH is a coenzyme “occupied” with electrons, and NAD+ is a coenzyme “ready and willing” to be put to use. NAD+ is the cornerstone to maintaining healthy internal organs and a healthy neurological system.  Many people eat healthily and exercise regularly.  Others may not find the time to do either.

NAD+ is the coenzyme of Niacin, also called Vitamin B3. It stands for nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide and is found in all living cells. NAD+ is essential to sustaining life. It protects us against factors such as chemical stress, inflammation, as well as mitochondrial and DNA damage.

NAD+ levels decline significantly with age. This then decreases the body’s ability to retain its youthful, healthy function. Studies have shown that by age 50, people have only 50% of the NAD+ they had in youth. By age 80, NAD+ levels drop to only 1–10 %. Deficiency of NAD+ may predispose us to accelerated aging, thereby increasing our risk of developing various diseases, such as neurodegenerative diseases, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and even cancer, among many others.
